Surfers and Beach Bum Heaven

San Juan’s large, horseshoe-shaped bay rests between two volcanic bluffs and is dotted with fishing boats, sail boats, and private yachts. It’s also an access point for picturesque beaches to the north and south.

Located on the southern Pacific coast of Nicaragua, San Juan del Sur is a laidback beach town offering some of Central America’s best waves. Surfers from around the globe travel here for big swells and beautiful stretches of sand. San Juan’s large, horseshoe-shaped bay rests between two volcanic bluffs and is dotted with fishing boats, sail boats, and private yachts. It’s also an access point for picturesque beaches to the north and south. San Juan has many restaurants (be sure to catch a sunset from one) and a thriving nightlife with clubs, bars, live music, and DJs. Surfing is the area’s biggest draw, but visitors also head here to fish and watch sea turtles nest at certain times of the year.
