Meet the Costa Rica Team!
Expanding our services into Costa Rica was no small feat. Over the course of many months, we developed tours, formed new hotel partnerships, figured out transportation logistics, opened a brick-and-mortar office, and hunted for the perfect staff. Fortunately, this last task was no task at all, and we now have the perfect trio manning our Alajuela office, located just outside the capital of San José. These three folks are smart, passionate, and determined to make you fall in love with their native home. Meet them here, or simply get in touch–they’d love to hear from you.
Allan is originally from the small, northern town of Ciudad Quesada, which sits in the hills of a dormant volcano and is surrounded by dairy farms. His passion for Costa Rica’s natural wonders began at a young age. “When I was little, my dad would take me camping and to visit nearby national parks, rivers, and volcanoes. I loved the fresh air and green forests and knew that I wanted to share my beautiful country with others.” He studied ecotourism, learned English, and took a job as a local guide working in the Arenal volcano region. Eventually, he started leading trips all over the country and the rest of Central America, too. Today, as Viaventure’s destination manager, he heads up our Costa Rica operations. “My team and I work hard to create unforgettable vacations that introduce travelers to all that Costa Rica has to offer, from eco-adventures to culture to wildlife and so much more.”
Sales & Operations Manager
Born in the Costa Rican capital San José, Carlos studied business administration with an emphasis on sales and marketing and has had a long-time interest in languages. In addition to speaking Spanish, he is fluent in English and French and has a working knowledge of Italian. His affinity for languages led him into the field of tourism, first working for hotels then for travel agencies. (He has worked for Chiquita Brands and Chicago Miniature Lighting, too.)
Outside of the office, he’s an aviation buff and “flies” daily using his own flight simulator. (He loves music, painting, and cooking, too.) At the office, creating top-notch itineraries is his goal. “It’s something I really enjoy. I take as much time as necessary to develop trips that meet travelers’ needs and budgets. I want clients to get a fair price and fantastic experience, too. When they’re here, they should feel welcome. When they leave, they should feel satisfied they experienced everything they wanted and excited to come back, too—there’s always more to see and do!”
Chris Johanna Bustos
Although she was born in the capital, Chris grew up climbing trees, swimming in rivers, and exploring the wilds of rural Costa Rica. Studying ecotourism solidified her desire to share her country with the rest of the world. “As part of the Viaventure team, I’m excited to show people the beautiful natural treasures that Costa Rica has to offer,” she says. “Costa Rica makes you feel alive, and I want our guests to experience that.” As the Costa Rica marketing coordinator for Viaventure, she works hard to provide clients with the information they need to enjoy our services and destinations. Outside of the office, she has a little girl named Camila. “She’s my greatest success.”
